It was reported that the man had been an employee for approximately six years with Midas Muffler & Brakes. The report goes on to state that the man acquired carpal tunnel syndrome as well as another disability that could potentially impact his work.
The man claims that he was off work for approximately two weeks and was then fired from his position. The man filed a complaint with his local human rights commission and was granted the right to sue earlier this year. In his suit, he is seeking compensation for lost wages, emotional distress and other damages that he apparently feels resulted from the situation.
Disability discrimination is unfortunately a situation that affects many individuals, including California residents. Therefore, as this case shows, it may be prudent for parties who feel they were unjustly terminated or otherwise discriminated against to look into legal action.
